1830 Proof Sovereign

WR-260. A key British gold rarity, the 1830 proof sovereign is rarely encountered in any grade. Bearing William IV and dated 1830, the coin is only available in proof and is sometimes called a pattern. It was issued in small numbers, and although the official mintage is not known, the Rasmussen catalogue suggests that fewer than ten examples exist. PCGS has graded just five coins (9/21). Rare in any grade, and a coin to hold for the long-term.
