1893 Proof Veiled Head Sovereign

Like five and two pound pieces, it seems proof sovereigns have finally found the stage to shine. With prices rising steadily this last year, even the more “commercial” sovereigns, such as the 1893, 1911, and 1937, have performed well, particularly as values of the larger denominations rise beyond the reach of the average collector. This example is graded PCGS PR65DC, and is one of the better pieces I’ve handled in recent years. It carries the coveted Deep Cameo designation, and is free from serious marks, hairlines, fingerprints, or other faults. Overall, it is a premium example that would not look out of place in a connoisseur collection of proof British gold.
