1864 Sydney Mint Sovereign

As Sydney Mint collectors know, MS62 Sydney Mints are extremely difficult to get, and MS61 is often the best one can expect. The coin photographed above is nice for the grade and has the appearance of a subdued but pleasing MS62. Only under a glass do you notice the scuffing that brings this coin down to MS61. If you’re looking for an 1864 Sydney Mint sovereign in Mint State without spending the $5,000+ required to buy one in MS62, this is your coin. Second-finest graded by PCGS (May 2013) and scarce this nice.
