1872 Sydney St George Reverse Sovereign

McD 144. A scarcer early sovereign, particularly in Mint State. I bought this coin raw expecting it to grade MS62, so yes I have to take a small loss on this one. The coin has full original lustre, lots of eye appeal, and a decent overall strike. Nothing to fault here. Catalogues $3,600 in McDonald and £1,700 in Spink in UNC (2013). Second-finest graded by PCGS (June 2013) and scarce this nice.
