1908 Ottawa Specimen Sovereign

A classic sovereign rarity, the 1908C sovereign was issued to commemorate the opening of the Monnaie royale canadienne (Royal Canadian Mint) on 2nd January 1908. Just 636 coins were minted, according to the Charlton Standard Catalogue of Canadian coins, and the coin continues to be one of the more popular and affordable special strikes of the sovereign series.
