1957 Perth Proof Penny

Both the 1955 and 1956 Perth proof pennies are well-known for their rarity, yet the 1957 proof penny with a brilliant-type finish remains relatively obscure. Despite all three having mintages in the low hundreds, the 1957 trades for just a third of the price of its 1955 and 1956 counterparts. In a well-informed market, this pricing discrepancy is unlikely to last. As collectors become more aware of its rarity—especially with PCGS now distinguishing it from the more common matte version—the coin’s true value is bound to be recognised.
