Australia, 1942 Bombay Penny without I mintmark - Grades PCGS XF40.
I’ve always been a fan of the 1942I penny without the “I” mintmark. It’s an easy variety to identify, and is scarce enough to be challenging to find but not so scarce as to be discouraging. It is also generally popular with collectors, and is one of the few copper varieties to have been added to the PCGS Set Registry by PCGS. I haven’t had an example in stock for some time (my last example was bought by a collector looking to complete his PCGS Set Registry), so I’m glad to be able to offer the coin photographed above, although it is in a lower grade. In any case, buy this coin if you’d like to close that gap in your PCGS Set Registry penny set. Or just buy it if you like varieties.
