United Kingdom, 1825 Proof Half Sovereign - Grades PCGS PR64CAM.
WR-248. The 1826 proof coins are one of the earliest commercial proofs issued by the Royal Mint. In preparation for such a momentous event, the mint struck patterns the year before, all dated 1825. These patterns are rare, and are often mishandled, hairlined, or otherwise impaired. The present coin, an 1825 half sovereign, is superior to most examples that have appeared on the market in recent years. It is just one of five coins graded by PCGS and the single-finest cameo example graded by them (5/25). With good colouring and superior eye appeal, the coin makes an ideal addition to a portfolio of important gold rarities or British proof coins. Ex-Pittman collection.
