India, 2014 Delhi Half Sovereign - Grades PCGS MS68.
Building on the success of last year’s full sovereign issue, MMTC-PAMP, in conjunction with the Royal Mint, has issued a gold half sovereign; this is the first time that a half sovereign has been minted on Indian soil. Dated 2014 and emblazoned with a bold “I” mintmark on the reverse, the coin is of superior quality to last year’s full sovereign issue, in my view. I have picked up a small quantity of Indian-made half sovereigns, but only two have graded MS68, which is the highest grade in which this issue is currently available (8/14). Very attractive, and almost proof-like, the issue is sure to be a hit with half sovereign collectors all around the world.
