1900 Sydney Half Sovereign

Collectors continue to underrate late Victorian half sovereigns in high grade. Mint State populations often in the single-digits, yet market prices don't reflect that level of scarcity. The present coin, lot 836 from the famed Reserve Bank of Australia hoard (November 2005), is the nicest example of this date we've handled. The coin is original, with reflective fields and superior eye appeal. The strike is particularly sharp, with the horse's reins and riders cape clearly struck up on the reverse.
